Connect to the Internet using Microsoft Internet Explorer dialer

Specifies to connect to the Internet by using the Microsoft Internet Explorer dialer connection you specify.

When this check box is selected, a message appears if you try to view an Internet site but have not yet established a connection. You can then connect to the Internet immediately from the message box.

Note This option is unavailable unless you have the Stack and Dialer Add-On component installed.

Connect to the Internet using your local area network or another dialer

Specifies that you connect to the Internet through a local area network (LAN), or by using a different dialer program.

Connect using a proxy server

Specifies whether you want to connect to the Internet through a proxy server on your local area network (LAN).

A proxy server acts as a security barrier between your internal network (intranet) and the Internet, keeping other people on the Internet from gaining access to confidential information on your internal network or your computer.

Address and Port

These provide spaces for you to type the address and port number of the proxy server you want to use to access the Internet.

Advanced

Click this to specify your proxy server settings.

Bypass proxy server for local (Intranet) addresses

Specifies whether you want to use the proxy server for all local (intranet) addresses. Because a proxy server acts as a security barrier between your internal network (intranet) and the Internet, you could need extra permissions from your system administrator to gain access to Web pages through a proxy server. You might be able to gain access to local addresses easier and faster if you do not use the proxy server.

Configure
